Ink blending, I am at it again! I’m not sorry though, I am really loving what can be done with a beautiful blend! Today’s project features blending over dry embossing with the new Spellbinders Butterflies & Flora Shapeabilites die. I adore this die and its scalloped edge. How cute is that?!
Begin by dry embossing the Butterfly & Flora die into #110 Neenah Classic Crest Solar white. I used the Platinum 6 Spellbinders die cutting machine and an embossing mat for this technique, but most die cutting machines can do this. Just follow the sandwich instructions for your particular machine. The dry embossing leaves the indentions of the die in the paper creating a guideline to blend by. Die cut and additional Butterfly & Flora image as you normally would and set aside.
Using the small brushes included with the blending brushes set, color in each section as you wish. I used Hero Arts inks in Ultra Pink and Strawberry for the heart. Ultra Pink, Dandelion and Orange Soda for the small flowers and each of the shades found in the the Lime to Forever Green Ombre ink pad for the leaves. Use caution or mask as needed to keep blending in the area intended.
Once the blending is complete, adhere the die cut Butterfly & Flora image over the top of the dry embossed panel. The die cut piece will nest right in place. Adhere with dimensional adhesive to A2 panel, stamp Playful Messages sentiment below in black and adhere finished panel to A2 folded card base.
