Hello and welcome to a touch of the Flapper era on my blog today! I am a sucker for all things Stephanie Low. She is an extremely talented illustrator who got her start as a tattoo artist. She has been designing in the crafty realm for a few years now and today’s project features 2 stamp sets she designed for Spellbinders. A Rose By Any Other Name and Bloom Where You Are Planted, work together beautifully, but stand alone, as well.
I began by stamping the images from A Rose By Any Other Name on #110 Neenah Solar White cardstock in MFT Extreme Black ink. I often bounce between the #110 weight and #80, but when I know the image will be heavily saturated with color or am using known bleeders like red pigments, I will stick to the #100 weight. The flowers are colored in Copic Markers using R29, RV25, RV04, R39 and a touch of 0, the colorless blender, to bring out more highlight. I even used, gasp!, black 110 for the dramatic dark shadows. Leaves are G99, YG21, G05 and N05. The dame’s hair is in E33, E18 and E15. Skin is 0, E0000, E30 and E31. Y13 and Y28 create the gold accents.
The dies are included with these smaller stamp sets and I used those to cut out both images. I nested the two images together over a band of black cardstock and gold glitter cardstock. I brought in more shine with Sulky Holoshimmer Gold thread. That little nest was wrapped and rewrapped around my fingers about a dozen times before I finagled it into just the right messy shape I was looking for. It is adhered to the back of the rose by applying tape adhesive, then pressing the thread into place.
I then stamped the sentiment from Bloom Where You Are Planted, and adhered the A2 panel to a folded card base.
Thank you for spending a few minutes with me today. I appreciate you always. May your day be brilliant!
