Hello and welcome to a special edition blog post. Today’s post is a part of the Pretty Things Survivors Do blog hop. It was created to bring awareness to those who suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. PTSD is often thought of in war veterans, but can affect anyone of any age with a myriad of causes. Traumatic events like war, car accidents, domestic violence, sexual assault, weather and natural disasters can be a trigger.
The holidays are a difficult time for those living with PTSD. We are participating in the blog hop in the hopes that you may be reminded to reach out to loved ones, neighbors, and friends who could be living with PTSD daily. If one person is remembered this holiday season, then we have achieved our goal of spreading awareness.

Awe, snowflakes! I love to look at them, but am so very thankful I don’t live where they fall! Today’s project is quick and simple, aside from drying time – but that doesn’t really count does it?

Brush The Ton Stamps True Navy Couture Color ink onto an A2 Lawn Fawn Mermaid cardstock panel creating a spotlight blending effect. Darken the edges with The Ton’s Grape Crush. Once dry, dust with anti-static powder and White Diamond heat emboss The Ton Stamps Blizzard Hugs snowflake.
Tip: Roll Pico Shimmer to disperse shimmer throughout. Shaking creates unwanted bubbles! (As I remembered after the fact.)

Fill in the center of the snowflake with Irresistibles Pico Shimmer (a cross between Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents). Its fine tip makes the liquid super easy to control flow and shape. Let dry overnight. As the Pico Shimmer dries it creates a beautiful vibrant shift of color in the ink it sits upon. Stamp sentiment in Jet Black Stazon ink onto vellum. Keep adhesive completely hidden by wrapping vellum to the back of panel to adhere. Apply panel to folded card base.

What a fantastic technique, I love this card and idea of using the negative image
Post TRAUMATIC—you might want to change the wording—you said DRAMATIC. I hate to point it out, but I would want to know 🙂 Your card is gorgeous!!
Oh geez! The combination of 2am editing and spell check are obviously not my friend, lol! Thank you for catching that, and the compliment too! 🙂
No problem! I’m glad that you looked at the comments 🙂
I love the stunning snowflake and your technique! Am loving the reason for the blog hop!! So needed to promote and embrace!
Love the snowflake and the colors. Beautiful.
I suffer from PTSD badly so I am so appreciative of this amazing blog hop! Thank you so much for bringing awareness to it. I will remember to also reach out to others who are suffering and could use some kindness. xo Andrea
This card is beautiful!! This is one of my favorite stamp sets and on my must get list. My husband and I were married in a blizzard in Lake Tahoe. Winter and snowflakes are my favorite!!!
Beautiful card, I love that snowflake and the spotlight technique. Years ago I was diagnosed with PTSD and it can be brutal at times. Thank you so much for bringing awareness. What a great idea to keep a list of numbers that might help someone. I’ve learned that in order to help you have to give them the number. Don’t just tell them that it’s there, give it to them. Thanks again and thanks for sharing your talent and creativity.
Your card is stunning! My father, Dr Leonard Neff was the psychiatrist responsible for putting PTSD in the DSM IV after treating Vietnam Nam veterans at the VA in Brentwood, California. Hugs help but so do well trained therapists. Thank you helping this undertreated disease.
Laurie, you must be so very proud of him!
Thank you to your father Laurie, he is a man to be prous of. I know what PTSD does to people and I know by my former profession how important it is that PTSD is in the DSM so it would be recognized as a disease.
So very beautiful!!
Beautiful card and technique! Thank you for supporting this worthy cause.
Wonderful card! I love this technique.
Beautiful snowflake card…such an interesting look!!!! Perfect card for reaching out to those hurting!
Paper Hugs,
Jan
Beautiful card! I love the snow! I live where we get snow a few times a year and mostly an inch or two. It’s makes the yard look so pretty. And thank you for highlighting PTSD. I wish more was done for people suffering from it. Especially those that are not Veterans and doctors don’t diagnose it. So many women from abusesive relationships suffer alone.

Awesome card for awesome purpose! Thank you for sharing!
Gorgeous card!! I was not familiar with this company, and at first I thought you stippled the white spots around the snowflake! This card is fabulous. The sentiment is perfect.
Love the sentiment and blue always makes me relaxed. Who would’ve thought cards can bring so much joy and support. I know you didn’t know when you sent me a birthday card that I was suffering from PTSD, you a stranger made me feel care for when some important people in my life have walked away from me since my diagnosis. Thank you for your kind heart.
Great cause! Beautiful card too
Awesome card! I was injured 5 and a half years and I think I have PTSD. Thanks for the blog hop. =)
A woman I graduated from high school with suffers terribly from PTSD. It affects every aspect of her life. She was in the military but this occurred because she was raped by a fellow military man. I don’t think he was ever brought up on charges which made the matter worse. Thank you for drawing attention to such a terrible condition. Your card looks very nice. I really like the sentiment.
What a beautiful card! It’s wonderful to see so much support on this blog hop, and your special tip on how to be prepared to reach out to others.

Beautiful card! Thank you for taking part in this hop.
What a wonderful thing all of you are doing! My dad was a WWII and Korean War Veteran who served in 3 branches of the Armed Forces. He suffered from PTSD which he kept buried deep inside until the last couple years of his life. He was going through counselling for it just before he died earlier this is year. The drs always told him he carried too much around inside.
Your card is gorgeous, and blue is my personal fave–its so calming. I hope you have a blessed Christmas.
Thank you for helping to spread awareness, Janette <3 Snowflakes are peaceful as is your beautiful card.
God Bless you I have problem with PTSD of Bless my dear so much
You are very Bless with your talent
Janette, how sensitive you are to create a blog hop to bring more awareness of this disorder which causes so many to suffer in silence. A list created & carried with you is a wonderful idea. I’d love to see more service dogs trained to help those with PTSD. I read a book by a veteran that just touched my heart so deeply when he described his “life” before & after he got his service dog. I wish I could remember the name of it. I read so many books it escapes me. Now onto your card. Beautiful!! I’m going to go to The Ton’s blog as you’ve mentioned products that I’ve not heard of & I absolutely love the sentiment. Thanks!
That’s an awesome card!! Love the snowflakes!! And thanks for being part of a wonderful cause!
Thanks for the wonderful initiative! Beautiful card!!!

Love your snowflakes with the blue….Really pretty! TFS
Jeanette, your card is absolutely stunning!!! I had not seen this stamp set before, and I am smitten! And while I knew about Pico Embellishers from Tsukineko, I did not know about this shimmer one! How many ways does a girl need to add shimmer???… ALL of them! 🙂
Your projects are always so inspiring!
This is such an amazing initiative and even more inspirational are the testimonies being shared about this disorder and the people helping. Your beautiful card will definitely help to bring some cheer to someone going through this difficult ordeal. Thanks for doing this. Hugs.
Janette thank you so much for being a participant in this blog hop.
Your card is awesome, I also love snowflakes, on the paper but also in real live. I know it is cold wen the snowflakes come and you don’t like cold but I am so glad I live where snowflakes fall.
Love your stunning card! Love the sentiment even more! But your request (us to make a list of phone numbers) is the best of all. Thank you for being a part of this very important hope.
Your card is stunning, and the sentiment is so appropriate for this blog hop! Thank you for sharing it with us.

What a lovely card – especially the sentiment!
I love your card. And I think it’s just perfect for this blog hop. Because when you learn how snowflakes are formed. It is because of a flaw such as a piece of dust or pollen. I suffer from PTSD and it helps to know that there are people out there that care.
Your card is beautiful! Thank you for helping to bring attention to this invisible disability – we must not forget that very often family members of the sufferers also develop their own PTSD. I know this from experience – my children and I have all been diagnosed with PTSD as a result of my husband’s chronic severe PTSD as a result of his service in Vietnam. It is an insidious condition and more people need to know and understand it.
