Heeellooo, crafty friends! Today I am sharing a project I created for the Butterfly Reflections, Ink blog, but I would be remiss if I didn’t say that I absolute love it and wanted to share it here too! I think it’s a beauty, and it took me under 30 minutes (that is super quick for me!)! It features the always trendy Pinkfresh Studios and Karin Brushmarkers.
Recreate this or a similar project by Gold Glitter heat embossing the PinkFresh Studios Take Pride floral wreath on smooth bristol paper or watercolor paper. Watercolor image with a selection of only about 4-5 colors. I used Skin 2, Magenta, Lime Green, Olive Green and Cool Aqua. Add the deepest colors in the shadowed areas and recesses and blend out lighter or even to white. No overthinking! Just a quick swipe with a damp brush to blend each shade. Add a touch of the deeper of your similar shades to further define the dark areas. Allow to dry and die cut image.
On a separate A2 (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) bristol or watercolor panel, loosely and liberally scribble on clear water. Then add Cool Blue Brushmarker to the dampened area. Let the color bloom and expand across the paper. Sprinkle on more clear water and tilt paper side to side for flow and an organic shape, if needed. No overthinking here either! It will look like a hot mess and that is ok! In fact, that’s the beauty!
Allow to dry naturally or use a heat tool to speed along, and add a few more sprinkles of water. Allow to dry again. Run through a Minc machine, laminator, die cutting machine or rest under a book to flatten if it has become warped. While drying, die cut the PinkFresh Studios Pop Out Sunburst from the same paper or another paper with a slightly different shade of white to add the subtlest contrast.
Adhere Sunburst die cut to watercolor background, keeping the center circle in tack. Pop the Take Pride floral wreath over the center and nestle in a hand cut white detail embossed sentiment on black cardstock. Adhere to folded card base.
30 minutes. Done. Feel free to take any amount of time you need for you. Make it take all day long if you need the respite! Crafting soothes the soul and no need to rush the process. Just enjoy.
