Hey there, ya’ll. I’m just coming in hot with a quickie. My birthday stash is getting low, and my word, there are a lot of September birthdays! I’m using a few leftover and “ugly” backgrounds to create easy peasy birthday cards that don’t look like they just took a few minutes to throw together, but they did!
I then backed the opening with a leftover piece of alcohol inked heavy weight Yupo paper. You can find the original blog post with the alcohol ink details HERE.
I stamped Happy Birthday Candles happy in MFT’s Extreme Black ink and white heat embossed birthday from MFT’s Piece of Cake, which apparently has been retired. The word birthday alone is pretty easy to come by though. If it is connected to happy, don’t be afraid to trim them apart or mask what you don’t want. Pop birthday and finished panel with dimensional adhesive and adhere to A2 folded card base.
This alcohol ink background I just thought was U. G. L. Y. It is a pale pink with gold metallic on Yupo paper. It does absolutely nothing for me, alone.
Don’t toss the experimentals or fails. When cut down or repurposed for another card, you might decide you really do like it after all!
This alcohol ink panel was also an experiment. I used regular glossy photo paper designed to run through an inkjet printer. Treat just as you would Yupo paper.
Remember: just because you dislike it today, doesn’t mean you might not love it tomorrow in another light, for another project!
In closing today, a friendly reminder: Please backup your computers, your websites, blogs and photos. Run virus protection on your computers, even if you are Mac based. Tuesday night about 8pm pst my site came down and came down hard. No pages, no posts, no images. All wiped out. My heart sank as I tried the things I knew to do to get it back up and running. No luck. Not even a glimmer of hope. Fortunately, I have an amazing tech guy at the ready and he has poured hours into every line of script on my site to bring her back to life. Apparently, cross-scripting malware attached to my site caused the problem. We don’t know where it came from, but a few tips from my favorite techie: 1. Always back up in at least 2 separate locations (I do, and it saved my site!), 2. Use Kaspersky Security Cloud virus protection (installed today!), and 3. Never ever access the backend of your website or any other sensitive areas or files while on an open Wi-Fi system. Not even at your favorite coffee shop (I didn’t). Mean people suck. Let’s not let them pick our pockets.
Hopefully all glitches are worked through, but if you find one, please be patient. Here’s to us all having an amazing Thursday!
I’ll always do my best to link you to shops with products in stock. As you know, inventory levels are always fluctuating and therefore may not be available. Please use the retailer notification buttons to let them know you want more!
