MFT & Friends – You Take the Cake

by | Feb 4, 2020 | Blog, Copic Markers, Happy Thoughts, Ink Blending, My Favorite Things

Hello, friends! I am so excited to share with you what I have created with a few of the items from the new My Favorite Things February Release as a MFT & Friends guest! MFT releases a plethora of darling designs on the first Tuesday of each month. If you are looking to be entertained by a stamp company MFT is it! They’ll keep you engaged all month long with their full releases early in the month, a card kit a bit later on and they’ll keep you creating with their three challenges. Winners of the Sketch, Color and Birthday Project Challenges earn cash to spend in the MFT Boutique! How about that for incentive?!?

Begin by ink blending on a leftover square panel of #110 Neenah Solar White with Purple Rain, Razzle Berry and Lemon Drop inks. Start at the top left and fade down through yellow in the bottom right with blending brushes. Once the white cardstock is evenly covered washi tape the Candy Stripes stencil in place. Continue to build color in the same manner. Remove stencil and die cut with You Take the Cake (keep the negative!). You Take the Cake is MFT’s February free with $60 purchase gift. You can learn the details of earning one here.

Adhere letters, popped for dimension, easily and accurately by using the negative die cut image. Trim around negative die cut to create an even square or rectangle. Secure in place on a scant A2 panel of 110# Neenah Solar White cardstock with removable adhesive or washi tape. Then apply foam tape or pop dots to back of letters and adhere through the negative guide. Keep negative with die for future use or, it’s so darn cute, create a focal point on a second card with it!

Stamp Birthday Buds elephant and hedgehog in MFT’s Extreme Black ink. Copic color images with N0, N1, N3 and N5 for body of the elephant. R83, R81, RV000, Y32 and Y35 make up her hat. E39, E37, E35, E53 and E51 for the hedgehog with candles in BV13, R83 and Y32. The hedgehog fur is colored only using dots and I added the same feel to the elephant by dotting her with a Copic Colorless Blender.

Die cut images. Adhere elephant flat with hedgehog tuck behind right side and bridging up to the letter C. Add foam tape for support, if needed. Adhere finished panel to folded card base.

Thank you to you for spending a few minutes with me today! If you wish, you can find the entirety of the MFT new release HERE and their blog post on it HERE. And thank you to My Favorite Things Stamps for the invitation to guest with MFT & Friends! Happy crafting, my friends!

xo, Janette
