Hello and welcome! Thank you for joining me as I share a project with a few new June release products from My Favorite Things. The crew at MFT is packed with talent and I am happy to be a part of MFT & Friends today! If you have yet to visit MFT’s corresponding blog post you can find it HERE. You’ll find more fabulous projects by MFT Friends to oogle over!
To create this project begin with sunny colored watercolor brush markers on Smooth Bristol paper. Scribble on the color and then wet and splatter with a water damp paintbrush. Ink smooshing would work, as well. Once dry, die cut with Sunshine Shaker die and trim sun in half. Mask the lower 2/3rds of a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ Smooth Bristol panel and lightly ink blend with Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide.
Next, move masking to top along the bottom edge of yellow blending. Ink blend with Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide at the top middle in a half circle shape. Move through Salty Ocean, Blueprint Sketch, Wilted Violet, and Black Soot deepening the color as you continue a half circle shape. Lightly mist Radiating Halftone Background with water and stamp with the half circles radiating in the same direction as the ink blending.
Stamp layering Adorned Ocean Friends base shape in Insulation Pink, or whatever light shade you prefer. Allow to dry naturally or speed with heat tool. Then normally heat emboss detail layers of fish with Versamark and clear detail embossing powder. Place rainbow foil over embossed fishy friends (matte side to embossing, rainbow facing up). Insert in a plastic carrier folder or folded white copy paper and pass through Minc Foiling Machine on a heat setting of 1. A high heat setting will melt embossing too much causing a smeared look. I have seen this technique done successfully with a variable heat laminator, but I have not tried that method. Die cut dinner. Eh, I mean fish. They are far too pretty to eat!
Heat emboss sentiments from Beach Buds on black cardstock with white detail embossing powder. Adhere sun at the horizon line. Adhere fish below. Pop sentiment strips with dimensional adhesive and adhere just below waterline. Attach completed panel to folded card base. Feel free to add interior sentiment at this point or wait to personalize it when you are ready to make someone smile.
Please don’t hang onto your cards forever. I know you are proud of your creations, but I encourage you to share them on places like Instagram, Stamp Junkies or Stamping Life on Facebook. MFT creations are welcomed and encouraged in their Facebook group, My Favorite Things Insiders. When sharing on Instagram, be sure to tag manufacturers. They love to see what their fans are up to. I enjoy scrolling through my past posts on Instagram. It is a catalog of what I have done, how far I have come, and how my style has changed over time. Once shared and cataloged for future reference, send off that happy mail!
Thank you for spending a few minutes with me today. I’m off to address a few cards and get crafty. I hope you are too!
I’ll always do my best to link you to shops with products in stock. As you know, inventory levels are always fluctuating and therefore may not be available. Please use the retailer notification buttons to let them know you want more!
