It’s that time again! Time for the newest My Monthly Hero kit from Hero Arts. This January 2018 kit just might be my favorite yet! The Layered on Love stamp set included in the kit is to die for! The thick bold letters allow for inks to take center stage. That second layer is a snap to line up. If you missed my post on Friday featuring that set, you can see it here. The season of love may be upon us, but this stamp set is versatile enough for the whole year through.
The Stealing My Heart stamp set I featured on today’s card is adorable, as well. It can easily be gender neutral, feminine or masculine, for young or young at heart.
Kit availability and shipping: The kit is available for a limited time only – once it’s gone, it’s gone. Kits begin shipping from Hero Arts on Friday, January 5th. Subscribe to receive the kit monthly and never miss one!

On Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock I stamped the Stealing My Heart images and Wanted sentiment in Copic friendly Intense Black ink and colored the images with my Copic Sketch markers. Simple shading to enhance a few curves and heart foot prints stamped in Ultra Pink Mid-Tone Shadow ink are charming details.
The background panel was created with alcohol ink (colors in product supplies at bottom of post) on heavy Yupo paper. While I appreciate the weight of the heavy Yupo paper, it does not die cut well (just so you know 🙂 ). I added the Window on Love Confetti Die elements by die cutting it on Snow Layering paper. I carefully removed the die and placed Glad Press’n Seal over the die cut image to keep the elements in tack as I moved them. I flipped it over and carefully applied liquid adhesive to the back of each heart and dot, but not the negative area I planned to remove. Then using the Press’n Seal, adhere die images in place on the alcohol ink background. Gently remove the Press’n Seal. A few of the smaller hearts did stay in the die so I went in, popped those out, and adhered those in place. I then lifted away the negative area of the die only leaving the hearts and dots adhered in place. I saved the negative in order to use it as a stencil for another project I am sharing later in the week. Come back and take a peek!
(On a thoughtful note, the You are So Lovely wood mount stamp is designed to fit perfectly in the center of the Window on Love Confetti die!)
For the final assembly I trimmed down the Wanted panel and matted it with a charcoal shade from the Midnight Mixed Layering paper pack. I then applied dimensional foam tape to give the panel pop on over the background. The panel was then adhered to an A2 folded card base. For a touch of sparkle I added Nuvo Glitter Drops in White Blizzard to the heart on the bag and the dots on the alcohol ink background.

Great card! I love everything that you did with the background die behind the panel.
Wow Janette! First off let me say that I am so glad I read the description of how you made this card! Just by looking at the picture I couldn’t tell that you used just the centers of the die cut and removed the frame. Love it! The alcohol background is beautiful, but I’m not there yet… I don’t own any alcohol inks. Thank you for the tip on using the press n’ seal. I am going to try that technique soon!!
Love how you layered your stamped image layer over the large die cut.
Such a great character for a Valentine’s card. I think your written instructions for your project are so clear and concise it would be easy to CASE this card but the necessary resources would be needed obviously. :O)
Thanks, Lorraine! If you give it a go be sure to tag me. I’d love to see your take on it! 🙂

Super cute card.
Awww that is such a darling card!! So fun and beautiful 🙂
Oh, I love your background for this!
This is my first time here and I really appreciate the alcohol ink effect you created! The method of laying down the die cut insets over the Yupo paper is not an easy thing to convey, but you explained it well and it turned out beautifully! Besides, you taught me a new thing: that Yupo is tough and doesn’t die cut well- I didn’t know that. Thank you for sharing your work!
Martha, thank you for joining us on the hop! For clarification, I used the heavy Yupo and that does not die cut well. The lighter weights seem to just fine. If you give alcohol inks a go, take the weight of the Yupo into consideration. I prefer the heavy weight, but not when I die cut! <3
Stealing my Heart is my favourite set in this release. You created a beautiful background with the frame. Thanks for the inspiration.
So cute! Love that awesome background! Great kit!
