June MMH Add-Ons
One of these cards is a total cheater. Can you tell?
I created the original card beginning with the water. I first stamped the background with Soft Sky (kit) on Smooth Bristol paper. The second layer was stamped in Summer Sky (kit), and the third in Deep Ocean (kit). I then went back with the base/background layer and inked up the outer edges with Summer Sky and then again, further out, with Deep Ocean. I blotted the highlight area with paper towel for a smooth transition to the moonlit glow.
I used this same idea to create the sky, only with Mini Ink Blending tools. When inks are blended in this way, I find them to be a touch lighter than if they were stamped. To combat this and darken the perimeter of the sky I also added Indigo and a touch of Grape Juice.
I then masked the inked area and applied Versamark to the beach. I shook the sand embossing powder (kit) and sprinkled it on. Then I removed the mask and heat embossed. If I had removed the mask before I applied the embossing powder I run the risk of having stray flecks adhere to what could be a slightly damp inked water area.
Next, and here’s the cheater part, I color copied the panel on my HP laser printer on regular copy paper. Then I stamped the mermaid, rock and palm on the original panel and the sailboat on the copy (all kit images). I matted the original with a sand embossed border and and die cut the Beach Frame for the copy. I added a sentiment to each and a touch of sparkle to the water of the copy with a shimmer pen.

*** UPDATE*** I had several requests to show how I created the moonlit card. I recreated it in this live Facebook video. Comments being made during the live video do not show up in saved content when reposted to another site. I promise I’m not talking and responding to voices in my head! It is my first live, and I’ve got somethings to learn, but I am sharing here for those interested!

After watercoloring a Zig Cobalt Blue Clean Color Real Brush Marker onto Smooth Bristol paper I Intense Black stamped and Copic colored a few elements from Beach Please onto 80# Neenah Solar White paper. I die cut the images and added the awesome sand heat embossing to the bottom of each. I created the mound to perch them on with a full stick Post-It note that I had just torn into shape. Sentiments were added, along with a Tribal Stripes accent strip.
