Hero Arts 2018 Winter Catalog Hop (+Giveaway)

by | Aug 22, 2018 | Backgrounds, Blog, Giveaway, Hero Arts, Holiday, Ink Blending

Hiya friends! Today, we are hopping along with Hero Arts and several fabulous guests to introduce you to the new Winter Catalog. The catalog is loaded with wintery goodness but, I am going with what perhaps might be my favorite holiday of the year, Halloween!

You guys, I have so many good Halloween memories with my friends. In fact, just last weekend several of us that went to high school together gathered and reminisced. We had such a good time. My abs ached and my cheeks were wet with tears from so much laughter! It was so good for my soul!

I’m featuring the Paper Layering Haunted House today, but a few of my other favorites are the Color Layering Fawn, Polar Greetings, Wonder of Magic and Christmas, Woodgrain Texture Fancy Die, Fancy Ornament Infinity Dies, Glimmer Metallic Inks, Frost Shimmer Mist…. okay, I’ll stop. I could go on and on and on!

To create this card, die cut Paper Layering Haunted House into Hero Arts black paper from the Midnight Mix. This paper is black on one side and white on the other. It allows the intricacy of the die to be just a touch more highlighted with a white core and back. Also die cut the ghosts, bats and fence with the same paper, just flip for white.

Next, ink blend with Soft Vanilla, Orchid, Grape Juice and Black on Smooth Bristol paper. Audition the haunted house over the blended area to verify the glow extends just beyond the house. Begin with the lightest shades and work to the darkest. Then go over them once again. A light hand building color slowly is the easiest way to make smooth transitions. Trim blended panel to 4″ x 5 1/4″.

Adhere house to blended panel being careful not to glue the door closed. Adhere door open with dimensional adhesive. Adhere ghosts tucked in place with dimensional adhesive. Adhere bats and fence flat to blended panel. White heat emboss Boo! from Halloween Mirror stamp set and pop in place with dimensional adhesive. Mat blended panel on black card base or black cardstock and then onto a folded card base.
