The Hero Arts 2018 Catalog has officially been launched in the Hero Arts shop! There are so many items I am excited about. Some of my favorites are of course the new liquid watercolors. They are so heavily pigmented that it only takes a drop or two to complete images. I also adore the Dragonfly Fancy die set, the Antique Keys Bold Prints and the new florals and… and…. Truly I just need an extra day in my week. Preferably between Saturday and Sunday. I just want to play all day with all of this goodness!

So I may have a thing for dragonflies. So much so that I have one permanently inked. This glittery dragonfly was created with the new Dragonfly Fancy Die and Be Creative Tape. I adhered the tape to heavy cardstock and die cut it, tape side up, setting my machine so that it would cut through the release paper of the tape, but not through the cardstock backing. Working from dark to light I removed select areas of the release tape and applied glitter. I buffed it with an old paintbrush to firmly attach it to the tape and tapped off the excess. I moved through the colors, even gradating the color on the wings. Using the dragonfly outline die, I cut into Handmade Watercolor Paper for amazing texture on the face of the panel.
You can see a YouTube video tutorial here on the same technique done a couple of years ago. It was the first video I ever did and have since improved, so go easy on me! It is still viable and provides good information!

I love these Antique Keys too! On my bucket list is the bridge full of locks in um… Paris, I think… Anytime I see images of it I think how cool it would be to attach one of my own. Someday… after I research it a bit, ha!
This card is super quick and simple. I airbrushed it with my Copic markers. It could easily be recreated with Hero Arts inks or Distress Oxides. Then I white heat embossed it and adhered a Swans & Cattails sentiment over a black and white Candy Stripe Bold Prints strip. I trimmed the finished panel slightly narrower than A2 and then adhered it to an A2 (4 1/4 x 5 1/2) folded card base.

OMG, cool cards, I really like the dragonfly, its awesome. You know you showed all the products and I had seen the Alphabet soup stamp over on Ellen H. website, and I thought it was so adorable so I searched on and off for a week to find it at Hero’s website with no luck, I always like to buy stamps directly from the manufacture especially if it’s a company I love like Heros Art but I just had No luck so I had to buy it thru Ellen, now I see it listed on your blog, so weird, ellen didn’t have this listed under new stamps and I have had this stamp for awhile, I don’t know why i’m telling you this, lol, I guess I just feel better the mystery is at least solved thanks to you, it was driving me crazy why this stamp would not come up when I searched for it back then so wanted to say thanks for listing ALL the products, I haven’t seen anyone do that yet. Have a great day.
Hi Tracey! Thanks for hopping along today! Hero Arts did release quite a few of the products to other companies ahead of releasing them in their own shop. They are an extremely generous company and my guess is that is a good faith effort to allow those companies the initial sales of the new products. I don’t know why they wouldn’t have been listed under the new items at Ellen Hutson. That does seem strange… other than maybe the fact that new products are coming out so fast these days it got shifted off the newcomers list? Who knows! I am glad you got your hands on it though! <3
Everything is so wonderful! The cards, the products, the catalogue, the ideas!
So many wonderful things, my mind is exploding with possibilities .
Beautiful cards – the dragon fly is exquisite.
Both of the cards are lovely. Unfortunately, the bridge of lover’s locks is no more. The authorities in Paris took the locks off because the weight was damaging the bridge.
What?!? Awe, you totally burst my bubble! That makes me sad. I can understand how the weight of a jillion locks could cause permanent damage though, and I don’t want that either. Thanks for the heads up!
Lovely card!
I love dragonflies and bling and you have given me inspiration to get that lovely detailed design and break out my glitters.
I also enjoy keys, clocks and butterflies. Checking out Hero Arts for sure.

Hi Jannette,
WOW what a lot to choose from in the new release, I love what you have selected Jannette to use. Of course you had to use the dragonfly as he is so pretty and you made him even prettier with the glitter. I have seen this technique of buffing the glitter on double sided sticky paper done before but never attempted myself. I really should have a go as I have plenty of glitter in my stash. The antique key background stamp is so cool too. Amazing!
Two awesome cards here. Your dragonfly is so sparkly and I love it.
Your keys card is inspiring
Wow, your dragonfly is just beautiful! The depth of dimension you achieved with the glitter is so cool!

The sparkle on the dragonfly is amazing!
WOW, Janette, your dragonfly card is stunning. Also love the locks and keys, gorgeous background against the white keys. Always enjoy seeing your creations and watching your process on the videos. Thank you.
These are beautiful and though I love them both, the dragon-fly card has to be my favorite. 🙂
These were so well done. I still have my first dragonfly stamp, and use it often. Needless to say the bright dragonfly card you did was my favorite. The keys were great, also! You did a great job on both.

Two lovely cards but what an interesting technique and finish on the dragonfly card! Sounds tricky but I would like to give it a try. Thanks for sharing.
The sparkle on that dragonfly looks absolutely fantastic!
Love the glittery goodness of your dragonfly!!! I have done this technique before but with a much less detailed die. And the key card is just gorgeous!!! Love the colors!

[margessw(at)icloud(dot)com]
The dragonfly is soooooo stunning!!!
Amazing cards! The first one is stunning!
Great cards. The dragonfly is stunning.
I love how you did the sparkles on the dragonfly. So striking. And I really like the simple key design too. You created a lovely gradient of colors with your markers; I’m so impressed, because airbrushing seems even more difficult than ink blending to me! (And yes, the lock bridge is in Paris. It’s called the Pont des Arts, but sadly they no longer allow you to put locks on it, because the accumulated weight of all those padlocks started causing structural damage. Such a bummer.)
lovely cards … love the shimmer …
Wow! The dragonfly card is stunning! Besides all the colorful sparkle, I love how you inlaid it into the beautiful watercolor paper! The tutorial was very helpful in explaining the technique you used!
Hop hop
WOW!!! Gorgeously Gorgeous…My goodness..that dragonfly’s wings are so so beautiful…Love your cards..
