Hi there, crafty friends! I guess you’ve probably heard by now that we have been doing a wee bit of quaking here in California. I am about 85 miles from the epicenter and while we surely felt the earth move a few times, we are fine! In fact, after the 6.4 shaker I downloaded the QuakeFeed app (iOS). I set it up to send notifications of quakes over 5.0 within a range of 200 miles. When the 7.1 struck, we had a few minutes lead time from when the quake actually happened and the notification was sent, until the time it rippled across the ground and reached us. It made for a memorable family birthday party, to be sure!
Today’s card is inspired by a few things I love about California, summer, sunsets, and camping. Okay well, if I’m being honest, glamping might be a more accurate term for me!
Sunset and into the dark of night is my favorite time of day, camping/glamping or not. When camping, how can it not be? I mean, s’mores!
Create this card by ink blending A2 Dove White cardstock panel with Ultra Pink, Crimson and Grape Juice. Curve an edge of Chestnut cardstock with scissors and ink blend with Intense Black leaving a highlight for the fire area. Die cut Tree Arch and Camper from Pitch Black cardstock. Ink blend camper on lower right with Silver as a fire highlight.
Stamp S’mores Bonfire images in Intense Black, and Copic color the raccoon in W7, W5, W3, W1, W0 and R20. The owl is in similar colors with a touch of Y17 and Y02. The squirrel is E37, E35 and E21. The fire uses the same colors from the squirrel with R35, YR09, YR16, Y17 and Y02 for the flames.
Die cut images and assemble all parts flat to the blended background with Precision Glue, being sure to tuck the owl into the camper window before adhering. The windows and the door to the camper open so that can certainly make for some fun! Adhere squirrel, raccoon and fire popped up with foam tape. Heat emboss sentiment on black and pop that, as well. Attach finished panel to folded card base.
Thank you for spending a few minutes with me today. Have a fabulous week and fingers crossed you get the opportunity to get your craft on!
