Monochromatic Flowers with Pop of Color

Monochromatic Flowers with Pop of Color

I don’t know what it is about monochromatic images that I am drawn to, but man, I am! Today I am sharing an oldie but a goodie (that is almost monochromatic). This is Botanical Hello by Mama Elephant. I colored the image back in March of 2017 as a part of The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge by Kathy Racoosin. The challenge is simple, color for at least a few minutes each day for 30 days, and share it. Missing days is fine, hop back in when ready. It is just an encouragement to spend a little time on you each day. The most recent challenge finished up just a month ago in mid February. I was a total slacker this go around, but I sure enjoyed searching the #thedailymarker30day hashtag.

  • Stamp Botanical Hello in Copic friendly Intense Black ink on Neenah Solar White (I used 80#, but 110# works too).
  • Color botanical portion of image with Cool Grey Copic markers in C00, C0, C2, C4, C6 and C8.
  • Color “Hello” in Copic shade R39.
  • Fussy cut image. I used my Brother Scan N Cut 2 (*swoon*)
  • Adhere image to 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ black cardstock panel.
  • Adhere black panel to black and white scripty patterned paper (from my stash, brand unknown).
  • Mount to a card base folded down to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ (aka A2).
  • Carefully apply 2 layers of Irresistibles Pico Embellisher in Shimmer.

So glad I finally got around to creating a completed card with the image I had colored a year ago! It’s never too late! See you soon!

xo, Janette

Scabby Snacks Treat Box

Scabby Snacks Treat Box

Scabby Snacks = Ew! All fun and games for classes full of first and second graders! Mama Elephant’s Gable Box was perfect for this little class treat. I went through my 6″ x 6″ paper pads and pulled 60 pairs of Halloween/Fall colored patterned papers. Each box requires two sheets. Yes, 120 passes through the die cutting machine! Thank goodness for my electric version, The Vagabond. Granted this was a few extra, but I did it…. and I survived! One side of each box even has an acetate window for the contents to show. I placed that die (from the same Gable Box set) at the same time as the box die so no need for a 3rd pass through the machine.

I made the fun tag in a print program on my computer. Then, quickly cut them out with my Brother Scan N Cut 2 and tied one each to the boxes… “Picked Fresh!” I had such a fun time creating these. Enclosed were raisins and Craisens, and a plastic roach. Bahaha! My little girls said there were a few squeals in class. Now whether those were from fright or laughter, I’ll let you decide!
