My Fabulous Friend – Ton October Challenge

My Fabulous Friend – Ton October Challenge

Good day to you and welcome to another edition of Creative Bliss! It’s the 1st of the month and that means a new challenge over at The Ton Stamps! This is my last regular post as a design team member with The Ton, but I will still join them for special occasions and hops. In fact, there is something extra coming later this month that you can begin to preorder next week. Keep an eye out for the news!

This month we are taking our nods from a caffeine inspired October mood board. It worked for me as this is one of my favorite cards. I love to combine different stamps sets, die cut them and weave them around each other to create an arrangement. Only on paper though, this is not a talent I have with real flowers. I’m all about the 2D, no 3D for me, thanks – lol!

  • Stamp mini cluster floral images from The Ton Stamps onto Gina K Artist’s Choice #110 cardstock (perfect for pencils!).
  • Color the images. I used Prismacolor Premier colored pencils.
  • Die cut the images.
  • Copper heat emboss The Ton’s Minor Stripes and Hug in a Mug.
  • Pencil color the mug and die cut.
  • Die cut Concord & 9th’s Heartstring die into heavy white cardstock.
  • Adhere striped background to A2 folded card base.
  • Layer heart panel leaving area near heart free of adhesive.
  • Tuck in floral images under and over each other and edges, adhere.
  • Add Basic Banner and mug.
  • Add any remaining floral clusters to matching envelope. Adhere them well so they make it through the postal system or hand deliver.

You can find this card, and many others by the amazing design team over at The Ton Stamps Challenge Blog. Head on over to enter your own! Up for grabs is a $50 gift certificate to The Ton Stamps retail shop.

Come play along and see what all the fuss is about! And even if you choose not to enter, it is a great place to check out inspiration created with The Ton products by the design team and by all the entrants. View contestant entries or enter your own by clicking the blue froggy InLinkz button near the bottom of the post. You can also search Instagram and Facebook using #thetonchallenge!

Thanks to you for popping in and taking the time to read about my latest Creative Bliss!

The Ton – Summer Challenge

The Ton – Summer Challenge

Welcome to today’s installment of sunshine! I am back from a revitalizing week at the beach and am excited to share with you The Ton Stamps August Challenge. This month’s theme is “Summer”! I’d say it is perfect timing as August tends to be our hottest month here in Central California. Though, it also means that the school year is fast approaching. Just 10 more days or so to hang on to to these last lazy mornings!

This month I tackled stamp layering. Honestly, if you’ve got a stamp positioning tool like the Misti, it is nearly foolproof!

These are my tips:

  • Use a stamp positioner like the Misti.
  • Check for air pockets between stamp and positioner lid/acrylic block on larger stamps. Having air pockets will cause uneven stamping.
  • Use clear acetate over your stamped image to line up the second step and subsequent steps. One- to protect your first image from smears, and two- take a trial stamp run on the acetate to make sure you are in the right place. Wipe acetate clean with alcohol.
  • Allow each ink layer to dry. Stamping the next too quickly will cause image edges to blur.

To complete: die cut palms and flamingo and layer in/around die cut oval. Pop elements for dimension. Add clear Wink of Stella to wave and Glass Slipper Sequins for sparkle.

You can find this card as design team inspiration over at The Ton Stamps Challenge Blog. Remember, this month the theme is “Summer.” Up for grabs is a $50 gift certificate to The Ton Stamps retail shop. The odds are ever in your favor!

Come play along and see what all the fuss is about! And even if you choose not to enter, it is a great place to check out inspiration created with The Ton products by the design team and by all the entrants. Ton July Challenge – Eat Macarons

Ton July Challenge – Eat Macarons

Today’s installment of cardmaking is a sweet one! Sugary sweetness for The Ton Stamps July Challenge inspiration. This month we are using a mood board. The inspiration graphic can be found just a few scrolls below. The card I created features Macarons that were released early this year and Summer Blooms that were just released last month. I love combining sets. It is a fabulous way to get more mileage from the sets you love. I’ve created a video tutorial, as well. Click here to watch it on Youtube or it is embedded in this post midway down.

I hope you join us and play along. You could win $50 to spend in The Ton Stamps shop!

  • Mask and white heat emboss Macarons across middle of card on Bristol Paper.
  • Mask and white heat emboss Summer Blooms above and below Macarons.
  • Watercolor with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers.
  • Stamp sentiment in The Ton Noir Couture Color ink.
  • Mat panel on gray A2 cardstock.
  • Adhere adhere matted panel to folded A2 cardbase.
  • Adhere Summer Soiree Couture Mix Sequins.

You can find this card as design team inspiration over at The Ton Stamps Challenge Blog. This month we are using a gorgeous Mood Board. Up for grabs is a $50 gift certificate to The Ton Stamps retail shop.

The Ton June Color Challenge

The Ton June Color Challenge

Hey there, welcome to my Creative Bliss! I am so glad to have you. Today, I am sharing the June 2017 Ton Stamps Challenge. The design team is kicking it off with loads of creative inspiration. This month’s theme is inspired by a color palate. A yummy one at that, check it out!

Get comfy with a cuppa joe in hand and head to The Ton Stamps Challenge Blog to get your creative juices flowing. As always there is a $50 gift certificate up for grabs to The Ton Stamps retail shop. It could be yours!

Come play along and see what all the fuss is about! Be sure to hashtag, #thetonchallenge!

Can you tell I am itching for summer?!? Flamingos all the way! I created these cards with primarily Fresh Cut Sunflowers and dies and Darling Flamingos, though I’ll have all the products linked up below. These 2 stamp sets are layering stamps. They seem complicated, but really aren’t. My trick to aligning them is the lightest layer first, then place a sheet of acetate or excess stamp packaging over the stamped image. Align the second and one step darker stamp, as best you can. Ink it up and stamp right onto the acetate. It won’t be a perfect image but it will show you if you have good placement. Clean acetate with wipee or alcohol and continue until you get it just right. Once you are satisfied, remove acetate to stamp directly on your image. Continue this process through all of the layers and you will be amazed at the beauty you create!

I couldn’t decide which of the cards I liked best, so you get both! One can never have enough birthday cards in the stash anyway, right?

They are basically the same cards with slight variations. Both have a circle cut into them and backed with white cardstock. The black has the back white layer adhered directly, where the white card has a foam tape layer between the background layer. I thought it was a fun detail to add dimension with a flower peeking up recessed behind the others. Of course, I think they are both spectacular and can’t wait to send these surprises in the mail. Imagine the smile on that unsuspecting friend’s face!

I had so many inquiries into a recent Instagram post that I thought I’d actually edit the video that I had shot. I do that sometimes… shoot it and then run myself out of time – can I just get one more day in the week, please? Anywho – it’s a quickie on how to die cut accurately, enjoy! Like and Subscribe over on YouTube if you’d like me to make more videos!
