It Took Decades…

It Took Decades…

Hiya, friends and happy Sunday to you! It’s my birthday, my 40th! And dang – it did take decades to look this good, lol! Every decade just gets better, right? Please tell me it is so!

Today, I am sharing with you a challenge post with Dare 2B Artzy. The first weekend of each month D2BA begins a themed challenge where you can create a card or scrapbook layout and enter to win your choice of a stamp set and an ink pad by D2BA. This month’s theme is Girly.

So fun, my friends! If you’d like to see inspiration by other team members or entrants head on over to the Girly Challenge. To play along (and I hope you do!) just upload your picture through the blue “Add Your Link” button near the bottom of the post.

I’m not a girly girl. I know, 4 daughters, one might think otherwise. Really, none of my girls are either. Probably saves a bit of my hubby’s sanity that way, lol! I sat an spun my wheels for a bit before I really got rolling on this card. I knew I wanted the car, but that was it! Girls like cars too, darn it all!

I began this card with the car from Classic Dad, all hot pink and sparkled up. It was colored with Copics in Rv25, FrV1 and RV19. I added Clear Wink of Stella and a silver Gelly Roll for the shine and accents.

Next, I trimmed down the car panel and added a hot pink cardstock mat. I backed that with sparkly embossed Blissful Blooms. Once those layers were assembled together I popped them up over the background that I had stamped hot pink with “vintage” from the Classic Dad set.

Other Copics used for the asphalt and sky were: T9, T7, T5, T3 and BG000.

Remember that you can always find the current D2BA challenge over on their blog listed at the top of the sidebar. I hope you will consider playing along with us this month with the Girly theme.

Goodies are linked in the post and below for your convenience. Feel free to head right to the D2BA shop here!

Thank you, friends, for reading along with me today!

Sweet Stamp Shop Early May Release

Sweet Stamp Shop Early May Release

Hi, Hi friends! I hope this Thursday finds you enjoying sunshine and happiness. Here in central California we are poised to hit just shy of 100* today! We be sizzling in this early heat wave!

Today, I am sharing with you 5 quick and simple cards using fun masculine themed products from Sweet Stamp Shop. Dad Bear and Papa Bear are new releases out today, illustrated by Ann of Spotgirl Design. Dad’s Tool Box & Dies and the Outline Lower Alpha are both already currently released but mix and match with the new sets perfectly.

This first card, “Dad Fixes Everything,” is Copic colored with a Distress Ink background in Salty Ocean. It is a combo of the Papa Bear and Dad’s Tool Box stamp sets.

“I’m a Tool” features the Dad’s Tool Box and dies, and is colored with Copic markers. The red thread is a super fun embellishment adhered with a standard tape runner. A silver Gelly Roll Pen gives the tools a metallic feel.

“Best Grand Paw” is also Copic colored and utilizes the Papa Bear stamp set. This background is ink blended with the new Distress Oxide inks. They blend like buttah! I used Faded Jeans and Broken China. I also misted a paw print with water and stamped it subtly along the right.

“Dad, Dad, Dad” is a combo of Dad’s Tool Box and Dad Bear. He too, is Copic colored, this time using pointillism for a fur effect. The multicolor ink across the bottom provides a youthful feel to the card.

“I Love You, Dad” is again Copic colored. Dad Bear and the Outline Lower Alpha have been employed here. The rainbow style of this card makes it perfect for dad from the youngest members of the family.

Welcome to my Creative Bliss! I am so pleased to be sharing with you. Today, I bring you a little game we played over at The Ton Stamps, Tic Tac Toe. The inspiration for this month’s challenge is not theme related, but technique related. Think of playing like Tic Tac Toe – using the items from either a row across, down or diagonal, just like all the ways you can win.

A Misti stamp positioner tool is quite helpful for this card. I began by stamping Pretty Mail in Caviar Hybrid ink, then Versamark, then heat setting with clear embossing powder on Bristol paper. Next, I loosely painted with Twinkling H20’s, a super sparkly watercolor. As that was drying I created the ethereal background by wetting the paper and then scribbling in with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I then helped the color move a bit here and there with a waterbrush. Once completely dry, I die cut the center of the watercolored panel, adhered acetate (aka recycled stamp packaging!) to the back along with 2 layers of foam tape to make a chamber for the shaker contents.

I then began assembling from the bottom up: Folded A2 card base at the bottom, then sparkly black cardstock, white sentiment panel (aligned carefully using light pencil markings), sequins, and then finally the watercolored panel. It has definitely turned out to be one of my recent favorites!

You can find this card as design team inspiration over at The Ton Stamps Challenge Blog. As you can see, I went top left to bottom right. How will you play? Up for grabs is a $50 gift certificate to The Ton Stamps retail shop.

Come play along and see what all the fuss is about! And even if you choose not to enter, it is a great place to check out inspiration created with The Ton products by the design team and by all the entrants. View contestant entries or enter your own by clicking the blue froggy InLinkz button near the bottom of the post. You can also search Instagram and Facebook using #thetonchallenge!

Thanks to you for popping in and taking the time to read about my latest Creative Bliss!

The neighborhood I live in, about 100 homes, is perched atop a hill. It is quite conducive to exercise and the residents take advantage, often with pooches in tow. I created this little gift box with treats as a friendly gesture to those I pass often. It is just small enough tote along with me while I get those steps in.

I die cut and inlaid an acetate panel into Modern Bliss Chevron paper. Once the Puppy Talk pooch was stamped in Totally Black Hybrid ink and fussy cut, I colored the image with Copic markers in E31, E33, E39, E49, YG17, YG23, R27, R24, W2, W00, BG000, BG0000 and 0. A touch of colorless blender on terry cloth pressed quickly to the image added a fur-like quality. Stamp sentiment on acetate in slick friendly Staz-On ink. A dab of Glossy Accents and Cranberry Stickles for a bit of sparkle and I was good to go!
