C9 Dotty Turnabout

C9 Dotty Turnabout

It is Fri-yay, my friends! And one that leads into a 3 day weekend, YAAAS! The unofficial kick off to summer is here. We’ve been in the pool all week, so I’m sure this weekend will bring more of the same. While we all are celebrating, or even just relaxing this weekend, be sure to remember the true reason for this long weekend, the people who have died while serving in our great country’s armed forces. For without them, chances are, we wouldn’t be sitting here today enjoying our vast freedoms.

In that sentiment, I’m sharing more Concord & 9th love with this week’s installment of #C9FeatureFriday. I’ve got a light up “Celebrate You” card and a “Thank you” card, both in honor of those whom continue to serve. They feature the Dotty Turnabout stamp and the Celebrate You dies.

You can find the products from these cards linked up at the bottom of this post when viewing on my website. As always, there is no cost to you to click through the affiliate links. They simply provide a small revenue stream that helps to support the expenses of this blog, and I could not be more grateful. I’ll only ever link you to products I actually use and love. <3

Dotty Turnabout… ah, yes please! I love the addition of the included add-on circles and accents. Its theme is generic enough to use for any occasion and unique enough to stand out. I first stamped in True Navy ink and then, after a 1/4 turn, in Grand Fuchsia ink. I then heat embossed in gold with the add-on accents. I die cut the All About You Dies in smooth gold glitter self adhesive paper and into the True Navy inked cardstock. Yep, I didn’t have the particular shade of navy I wanted, so I inked the whole chunk by rubbing it down with the ink pad itself.

I like to use a Misti when stamping with the Turnabouts, but with the Dotty you really don’t have to. You can see a C9 video on the process here with the Misti, tips here and a template here.

I hid the light up LED mechanism behind the heart in “You” and vellum. I also used an effect sticker (tucked behind the navy panel in the upper right corner) in order to achieve the twinkling light. Without the effect sticker, the light stays on solid as long as the connection with the battery is made. I added a little pull strip so that the battery wouldn’t inadvertently light and discharge while scrunched in a mailbox somewhere.

The Chibitronics site has a wealth of schematics and videos. The effects diagram I used is here.

How better to Celebrate You than with the Dotty Turnabout stamp, All About You dies and a twinkling light to show you the star you are?

The Dotty Turnabout background was created similarly here. This time I did not use any of the accents, but did stamp it 3x. The first was in Butter ink, 1/4 turn and stamped in Narwhal, and a last 1/4 turn and stamped in White Shimmer.

You can find links to tips and tricks in the Celebrate You card description above.

“Thank” is die cut in black glitter paper. “You” is die cut with the interchangable inner O stacked hearts and layered… a lot. The “You” stack is 3/8″ thick and I love it! If I mail it, it will need a bit of padding, but it is oh so fun! I did 3 layers of Sticky Note cardstock, 2 of Narwhal and repeated until I had 2 sets of grey sandwiched between 3 sets of yellow.

I enjoy a touch of unexpected delight in a card, and these layers bring that in spades. Add a few sequins and you’ve got a thank you card that will surely brighten the recipients day!

Long live snail mail! Really folks, don’t just make them – mail them!

Globe Greetings

Globe Greetings

Wowzers, it’s Fri-yay again, my friends! Boy, that snuck up quick this go around. Is it me or do you all feel like time just keeps ticking away faster and faster? Geez! I really could use and 8th day a week. One that doesn’t count – free – that doesn’t really exist in the grand scheme of things. We can all have it each week, we just don’t count it. It’s like a secret between us all. We can do that, right? No biggie?

Oh, good. Now that we have that established, lets chat about Concord & 9th!  Today’s post is week 2 of 4 guesting over at Concord & 9th for their #C9FeatureFridays. So much fun for me, I hope it is for you too! You can find week 1’s post here, featuring the fabulous Oh, Hello Turnabout stamp set.

Globe Greetings and Dies are the featured sets of the day. Globes have been so popular recently in home trends it is no surprise they have made the leap to the papercrafting market. I added a commencement cap from a random clip art outline I found with a Google search to create the perfect card for recent college graduate.

The cap is colored with Copic Markers in C2, C4, C6, C8 ad C10 ( I like to get mine from Carpe Diem Markers). The Bouquet is in The Ton Crystal Pewter Couture Ink (linked below).

This amazing earth was created with the C9 Globe Greetings die. One pass through the machine and the chipboard was cut cleanly through.

I then layered a wood cutting board covered in parchment paper, then the Versamarked chipboard die cut covered in little mounds of embossing powder and another piece of parchment paper on top. I heat through the paper to the embossing powder until well melted pressing it down here and there with the heat tool. Once fully melted, I pulled off the parchment paper while still hot. The result is an awesome marble effect.

Be super careful of the heat to yourself and surfaces nearby. I have seen a few heat tools die with this technique, as well. Be sure to not let them overheat! The sentiment was added with black StazOn ink.

This globe began with 4 layers of black cardstock stacked after heat embossing the top layer in white, and stamping the continents in Versamark Dazzle Frost. The Dazzle is shimmery in person, but super hard to photograph.

I stamped the bouquet in several shades of blue and green (all linked below) and cut them out. I just layered them up and then placed Glad Press & Seal over the top and applied firm pressure in order for me to be able to pick them all up together, flip them over and add liquid glue to the back. Then they were easily flipped and popped right back into their spot with no shifting.

Last, but not least, a quickie shaker! The background was made with Distress Inks, acetate was stamped with StazOn black ink and then it was load with shimmery, sparkly clear sequins and beads. Makes for a great masculine thank you card, even if it does have sequins. You know those guys like to shake, shake, shake too!

Thank you for taking a peek into my Creative Bliss today. I hope you’ve been inspired by the Concord & 9th Globe Greetings stamp and die set!

I’m off to Vegas for the weekend! Enjoy yours, wherever you may be!

xoxo, Janette

Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day to all moms, no matter how you came about that title! May your day be filled with those you love, enjoying all the best motherhood has to offer!

I’m sharing 2 cards that aren’t specific to Mother’s Day, over on The Season at The Ton Stamps, because let’s face it, as much as I always like to be prepared, I’m not. I cover myself by making cards like these that are versatile and can be personalized on the interior of the card to suit the occasion. In this case, Happy Mother’s Day is stamped on the interior of the second card.

Head over to The Ton Stamps for all the sparkly details!

Oh, Hello Turnabout

Oh, Hello Turnabout

It’s Fri-yay, my friends! Today, and the next few Fri-yay’s, I will be bringing you Concord & 9th love. I met Angie and Amy of C9 at Simon Says Create, a stamping event in Ohio. These girls – they are the best. I feel a fantastic sense of satisfaction and joy when I meet faces behind a company and they are as amazing as their products. These girls, they represent! I was flattered when they said they had seen my work and would like me to guest for them. A resounding yes followed… and maybe a wee bit of blushing!

So fast forward a few short weeks and here we are showcasing Concord & 9th’s May release. This week we are focusing on the new Oh, Hello Turnabout stamp. It is super clever and easy to use. You’ll find the entire month’s release products linked up at the bottom of the post, as well as the 2 additional stamp sets of Concord & 9th’s that I used to create these cards. Each week we’ll be focusing on a new set from May…. which is turning out to be an amazing month, btw! 😉

I know I come to you each week with stamp sets I love, that’s because I DO! I only have so much time and choose to work with products I adore. Concord & 9th’s Oh, Hello Turnabout stamp set does not disappoint. It is a follow-up to their best selling Triangle Turnabout stamp set from last month.

I began by setting up a jig and aligning the stamp in my Misti. You can see a C9 video on that process here, tips here and a template here.

With each 90* turn I stamped in a new Distress Oxide ink color, Broken China, Cracked Pistachio, Vintage Photo and the hubby suggested Fossilized Amber for the 4th color – perfect! I then used the Broken China ink pad itself to color another strip of paper, sprinkled on a few dots of water for texture, embossed “That’s All,” and stacked 3 layers of the “Hello” die cut. The final touches included a touch of black glitter paper across the bottom, sequins and a black sparkle marker over “Hello” before adhering in place. Super fun and by leaving the sequins off it can be masculine too.

This card background was completed much the same as the first, but with 3 different colors of embossing powder. I went with Ranger Black Detail, Clear Detail and Holographic. I watercolored the “You Are Enough” stamp set flower and fussy cut it. The gold band was created by lightly brushing Minc Screen Ink across cardstock and foiling it in Rose Gold Deco Foil. I then heat embossed the “Oh, Hello There” sentiment over the foiling. Once those layers are adhered together you have a classy card you can keep to admire yourself, or send as happy mail to brighten a friend’s day!

Thank you for visiting today. I hope you’ve enjoyed this introductory peek at the new Concord & 9th May release! There is more to come, you won’t want to miss it!

From me to you, take some time for yourself this weekend. Enjoy your Creative Bliss, whatever and wherever, that may be.
